Jana & Js : Memories
____________________
The Austrian-French couple decorate places and landscapes with their often huge stencil paintings, and walls all over the world. Originating from their personal photographic work, the images seem to interact with their surroundings and also react to the local conditions. Mostly inspired by the city and its people, their paintings combine urban landscape or architectural details with portraits and ask for the human place in modern cities. For their works, they choose old materials that show the passage of physical time and history. Their art emerges in unexpected spaces such as old dismantled products; railway tracks, dilapidated houses, poles, pieces of concrete and wooden posts. Their urban interventions merge, their themes with the environment provoke thoughts and engage the viewer in an artistic dialogue. The exhibition “Memories” shows wooden assemblages and scores with stencils.
