“I build up my painting in layers, using acrylic paint, varnish, charcoal and oil paints in a kind of mixed technique. Drawings and animated films are mainly made with charcoal. But I don’t want to limit myself to that, and I also play with other materials again and again, although this cannot be thought of separately from painting and there is always a connection.
The thematic core of my work is certainly the human being. It is being human in itself that preoccupies me. The face, hands, our posture show our uniqueness, and that is exactly what I want to portray. I work on the themes of mass, manipulation, individuality and community again and again.”
